Staying Healthy Practices

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian holistic health system recommends these daily practices to stay in good health and prevent many illnesses.

  1. Fresh Turmeric and Ginger Water – Soak 1 tsp fresh turmeric and 1 tsp fresh ginger finely chopped in a cup of water.  Strain and drink that water first thing in the morning, before consuming anything else.  It cleans accumulated toxins from the body.
  2. Garlic – Take one clove of fresh garlic clove.  Peel it and chew, first thing in the morning.  Garlic is anti-fungal, antioxidant, and provides a lot of other benefits.  It creates a protective barrier in the gut.
  3. Fenugreek Seeds Water – 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds soaked in water overnight and consumed on an empty stomach in the morning stimulates insulin and slows sugar absorption.  It lowers lipids.  It is loaded with many vitamins and minerals. Lowers serum triglycerides.
  4. Turmeric – ½ tsp Turmeric powder + 1 tsp coconut oil or 1 tsp honey.  Mix it well and eat it.  Turmeric must be consumed with oil or honey to be absorbed in the system.  Otherwise, it just runs through the system.
  5. Herbal tea – Ginger, Lemon, Honey.  Infuse 1 tsp ginger and honey each in a cup of boiling water.  Wait five minutes.  Add honey and drink.
  6. Herbal tea – Holy Basil (Tulsi).  Make tea with 1 tsp fresh or dried Tulsi leaves.  Boosts immune system.
  7. Spice tea – Green Cardamom + Black Peppercorn + Cloves + Ginger + Lemon.  Take about 1 tablespoon of whole spices above.  Crack them a little.  Boil in 2 cups of water.  Reduce.  Put in a cup.  Add 1 tsp honey.  Great for clearing mucus, cough, cold, digestive.
